exit dresses.

i’m in a wedding mood today so i have posted my favorite “going away” dresses for brides. not many brides change out of their gown before exiting their reception. i chose to change right before we left, it was comfortable and cute. if you are thinking about leaving in a more casual option, below are my picks, all under $400.

top: rosette trim dress (would be such a cute ending to a wedding with a black and white color palette) from nordstrom, poplin sydney dress via j.crew, and strapless applique dress from bcbg.

inspiration.

artisit tord boontje’s work is beautiful and inspiring. the laser cut “chandeler” would be wonderful lighting in a wedding reception. i could see them lighting a patio/green space or hung over dining tables. i also could see the panels as a beautiful backdrop for a wedding ceremony.

happy national handwriting day.

In celebration of National Handwriting Day, I have chosen some of my favorite journals to doodle in.

Top to bottom:  I love… notebook by Nantaka Joy. Jill Bliss for Chronicle Books (who publishes some of my favorite cook books and color theory books) via Fred Flare. And Working Class Studio journals via Shop SCAD.

home away from home…

or just the place i spend 40+ hours a week at. meet my classroom.

img_0020.JPG  teacher’s view. 18 student iMacs and my lovely new iMac.

img_0021.jpg  i finally got around to using my old ikea curtains (previously used a room divider in my old apartment) in the classroom. the filter light nicely.

img_0022.JPGgreat quote i have kept on the board for a while when my server was down and the kids couldn’t access their projects, “think with your mind. forget technology. creativity is not device dependent.”

img_0024.JPG  you can guess where the trouble makers like to sit. anyone have any advice on how to better utilize the space in the room? it’s pretty tiny for a computer lab.

what’s for dinner?

img_0029.JPG

last night’s dinner was delicious. baked breaded chicken breast with rosemary cream cheese, rice pilaf, and broccoli. strawberries are in season here in florida so that meant frozen strawberry daiquiris were definitely included.

illustration.

I am in love with illustration that utilizes the computer AND non-digital elements to create stunning visual solutions. I think if I went back to school I would study illustration (and surface pattern design, more about my love of that later). I stumbled across the work of Jon Klassen today. All I can say is, enjoy.

xmastree08-web.jpg

I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. I’m enjoying my last day of vacation hanging out with the husband. For now, here’s a peak at our tree (which is coming down today). happy 2009!
