DIY Ikea Malm Mid-Century Tall Dresser with my overlays.com | Sarah Hearts

I hope you had a wonderful weekend celebrating the amazing women in your life. And if you’re a mom, I hope you were able to relax, too! I spent the weekend catching up on DIY home projects including adding the final details to our second Ikea Malm dresser. Last week I shared how I transformed our standard Ikea Malm 6-dresser into mid-century modern inspired piece. Kevin and I both loved the look so much that I decided to do a similar update to our Ikea Malm tall 6-drawer dresser!

Want to give Overlays a try and customize your own Ikea dresser? You’re in luck! The lovely ladies at Overlays are giving away a $50 gift certificate to one lucky winner. Get ready for some Ikea hacking! Here’s how to enter:

3. For an extra entry: like Sarah Hearts and Overlays on Facebook then come back and let us know you did in the comments  (be sure to include your email).

Details// The contest is only open to those in the U.S. The winner will be randomly selected and will be contacted via email after the contest closes. If I don’t receive an email response from the winner by May 24th, another winner will be randomly chosen.

Love the white on white look!

Hello lovely mid-century modern hardware.

I used the same process to sand, prime and paint the drawers as the other dresser (check out my tutorial here). This time I the Overlays to four of the drawers and only added hardware to one. I splurged a bit on the streamline knobs (they were $6 each… I know, not what you were thinking, but compared to the others that were only $1.38 each I thought it was a big jump in price).

Here are both dressers arranged side by side. 3 days of work, a few supplies, and now we have new bedroom furniture!

Want to give Overlays a try? They are offering 15% to Sarah Hearts readers. Just use the code HEARTS15 at checkout.

Overlays provided the Olivia overlays to complete this project in exchange for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks so much for supporting the brands that enable me to share my ideas with you!

I would love to use the Harper strips to dress up the Lack end table I’m using in my sunroom!

I am moving into my first apartment in the fall (yay no more dormitories!) and I am updating an old chest of drawers. I would love to add the bubble strips to the drawers to make it a more fun piece! And I won’t forget fun colors either!

I’d like to use it on my ikea bathroom cabinets. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with it and this would be a great addition.

Looking at my options for the “MALM” dressers which we have 2 of and plan on getting 2 more side tables, I think I like the “Anne” Overlay the best. Then maybe we can add handles! 🙂 New look for our new home would be fabulous! I already like your page on Facebook and have now liked the Overlays page.

Sarah! I’m becoming such a fan of your blog and Instagram inspirations 🙂 I love the classic “Anne” overlay and am looking to add it to my daughter’s Hemnes dresser. I’m redoing her room in pink, white, and soft gold. I’ll be “liking” overlays and Sarahhearts on FB!
