Every year I try and make a new garland for our Christmas tree. It’s a simple DIY project that spruces up the tree without spending a ton on new ornaments. Last year I created this sewn paper triangle garland which I just adored. Since I’m a big fan of paper, I decided to also make this year’s tree garland out of paper.
I used metallic gold crepe paper streamers and red baker’s twine to create a garland for our crystal white spruce.
Supplies:
– crepe paper streamers (any color)
– baker’s twine, cut however long you want your garland to be
– scissors
– double-sided tape
Cut the crepe paper into 5″ long pieces. Place a strip of double-sided tape on one side of the crepe paper. Place the baker’s twine piece in the center and fold it in half, pressing down to adhere the paper together. Then use the scissors to trim the ends in a triangle shape.
For a bolder look, place the flags side-by-side or alternate several colors of crepe paper. This project is so easy it would be a great project to do with kids or at a girls night this weekend.

Ooo, so pretty! We don’t have room for a tree but I’ll be making some kind of garland for New Year’s. Love the flag shape!
