Balsamic Glazed Strawberries

I love using seasonal fruit in cooking, especially desserts. So after sharing my new addiction to balsamic glaze on Instagram last week, I decided to use the yummy glaze on top of strawberries.

Serve balsamic glazed strawberries at your next dinner party! It's so easy to make even though it sounds fancy.

Summer is my favorite time of the year for produce because most of my favorite fruits and veggies are in season. Right now, I can’t seem to get enough summer berries, watermelon, or pineapple. And I love using seasonal fruit in cooking, especially desserts. So after sharing my new addiction to balsamic glaze on Instagram last week, I decided to use the yummy glaze on top of strawberries. The result is a super easy, delicious dessert, that sounds way fancier than it is.

This would be perfect to serve at a summer get together, or even a dinner party or shower. You can even make the berries several hours before serving. Just plate them when you want to serve them and top them with a scoop of good vanilla ice cream (or even gelato) and a generous sprinkle of fresh lemon zest. The lemon zest is a must! It really takes this simple dessert to the next level—trust me on this one.

These balsamic glazed strawberries are so easy to make and perfect for serving at summer dinner parties and showers.

Balsamic Glazed Strawberries
one serving

Ingredients:
– 1 cup of fresh strawberries, sliced thick
– 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze (I buy mine at The Fresh Market, but you can also find it on Amazon)
– pinch of sugar
– pinch of fresh cracked black pepper (or one turn on a pepper mill)
– vanilla ice cream (I love the Greenwise organic vanilla from Publix)
– lemon zest, for garnish

In a small bowl, combine the all the ingredients except the ice cream. Give it a stir and let it sit out for about an hour. Then serve the glazed berries with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of fresh lemon zest.
