I have a confession. I’m not into St. Patrick’s Day.

Maybe it’s because I’m not Irish or because I’m not a fan of beer but I’ve been into it. I do enjoy wearing green though. Yet I didn’t want to leave out those of you who do love it so here’s a fun and festive DIY.

Remember the color blocked wood heart cake toppers? Well these clover ones use the same process but I swapped hearts for clovers and color blocking for watercolors.

These clover cake toppers are made out of adhesive wood veneer. Such a cute idea for St Patrick's Day!

Time: 30 minutes
Supplies:
adhesive wood veneer
– green paint in various shades
– paint brush
– 4″ and 6″ wooden skewers
– Silhouette Cameo or Portrait

Step 1: Place the wood veneer on your cutting mat, keeping the paper backing on the wood sheet. Use a wet paint brush to paint the wood sheet. The more water you use, the more it will look like a watercolor painting. Allow it to dry completely.

Step 2: Use your cutting machine to cut out the clover shapes. You’ll need two of each size per wooden skewer. If you’re using a Silhouette, use these settings:

Ratchet Blade: 7
Speed: 1
Thickness: 32
Use with a cutting mat!

Step 3: Remove one clover shape from the cutting mat and place a wooden skewer in the center. Carefully alight the edges and place another clover shape that’s the same size on the back side. Press the edges together and repeat this step to complete the other toppers.

Did you know you can cut wood veneer on a Silhouette? This tutorial shows you how to!

Love these DIY clover cake toppers! They're perfect for St. Patrick's Day and would even be cute on cupcakes!
