Now that spring feels like it’s officially come to Florida, I want to add as many bright, floral things to our home as I possibly can. My go-to spring color palette is usually mint, coral and gold but I decided to swap that palette for a more modern mix of colors. I’ve adored the new Kate Spade Saturday collection for West Elm since I launched (I mean have you seen this arm chair?) so I thought it would be fun to create a set of placemats that are inspired by the collection.
I starred with a set of ready-made round woven placemats and added a mix of muted pink, grayish blue, white, yellow and black paint. The best part about this project is that you don’t need to be an artist. A large paint brush makes it super easy to create loose brush strokes that almost resemble flowers. So perfect for spring!
Time: 30 minutes + drying time
Supplies: straw placemats / craft paint / large paint brush
Step 1: Starting with the lightest color, paint large brush strokes in a floral-like pattern around the placemat. Alternate colors until you’re happy with the results. Super simple!

These are so awesome!
These are so creative and simple to make. Thanks for sharing your Kate Spade inspired placemats! I included them in a round up of other Kate Spade Inspired projects.
