Reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Chance are you've probably heard someone talk about this book. See what all the hype is about and why it's worth a read!

A while back my friend Carrie mentioned reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and it totally caught my attention. I had heard about the book or remembered seeing it pop up as a suggested item on Amazon. Shortly after Carrie posted about how she’d been folding her socks incorrectly pretty much her entire life I decided to give it a read.

I’ve always considered myself a type-A creative person. Which is somewhat an odd combination of traits. I need structure to thrive. And when my house (which also happens to be my office) is out of order I just can’t work or get anything done. So I decided to pick up this book, or rather download it to my iPad, and give it a read.

The basic principle to Marie Kondo’s method is only keep the things that bring you joy.

This hit me like a ton of bricks and though so simple, is really pretty life changing. I completed the book last weekend, and began to follow her suggested order of sorting through your belongings (hello Instagram sale!). I’m not done sorting through our home, but it already feels like a huge transformation!

Have you read this book? I’ve love to hear what you thought about it!

Leave some love:

  1. I loved this book! After my initial closet clean out and reorganization six months ago, I still use her folding techniques and my closet always looks perfect. I never thought the closet tidiness would last, but her organization methods work and her crazy folding instructions just make sense.

    • Oh that’s great to hear! And I agree. I’ve been loving how easy it is to find things in my drawers now.

  2. Dying to read this but there are 3 people ahead of me in line at the library for it. Read fast people!!

    • I think you’re really going to enjoy it when you can get your hands on it!

  3. Awwww, yay! Thanks for the shout out!! I’m so happy to hear that you loved the book as much as I did 🙂

    • Yes! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
