A while back my friend Carrie mentioned reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and it totally caught my attention. I had heard about the book or remembered seeing it pop up as a suggested item on Amazon. Shortly after Carrie posted about how she’d been folding her socks incorrectly pretty much her entire life I decided to give it a read.
I’ve always considered myself a type-A creative person. Which is somewhat an odd combination of traits. I need structure to thrive. And when my house (which also happens to be my office) is out of order I just can’t work or get anything done. So I decided to pick up this book, or rather download it to my iPad, and give it a read.
The basic principle to Marie Kondo’s method is only keep the things that bring you joy.
This hit me like a ton of bricks and though so simple, is really pretty life changing. I completed the book last weekend, and began to follow her suggested order of sorting through your belongings (hello Instagram sale!). I’m not done sorting through our home, but it already feels like a huge transformation!
Have you read this book? I’ve love to hear what you thought about it!
