Today I’m revisiting one of my favorite (and most pinned) dessert recipes. I made these mini layered chocolate trifles for a dear friend’s baby shower 3 years ago and they were a hit. They have since been my go-to dessert for dinner parties because they can be made a head of time and you just can’t go wrong with a chocolate dessert.

I made mine in shot glasses but if you want to make these for yourself, I promise I won’t tell anyone, just layer them in a large trifle dish.

Chocolate Mousse and Brownie Shot Glass Dessert
Makes 12 servings

Supplies

dessert shot glasses
disposable pastry bag
mini spoons for serving

Ingredients

Bake one batch of brownies using your favorite recipe or box mix
1 box instant chocolate pudding mix
1-1/2 cups 2% milk
1 cup heavy whipping cream

  1. In a medium size bowl (I used my Kitchenaid stand mixer) beat the pudding mix and milk on medium-high until it’s pudding consistency.
  2. In a separate large bowl (I used my metal mixing bowl), use an electric mixer to beat the whipping cream until it’s fluffy and peaks form. Fold the pudding mixture into the whipped cream until it’s combined.
  3. Layer crumbled brownie bits and some chocolate mousse in each shot glass. I piped the mousse into each glass. If you don’t have a piping bag just use a large zip top bag an cut a corner of the bottom of the bag. Top with a few more crumbled brownie bits or chocolate curls and put them back in the fridge until you’re ready to serve them.

    1. The mouse can definitely be made a day ahead but I don’t recommend assembling until just before serving so the brownie doesn’t get soggy.
