A few weeks ago I was browsing the Anthropologie home goods sections and spotted these astral coasters. I fell in love with their look but like many things at Anthro, didn’t love their price tag. What’s a girl gonna do when that happens? DIY of course!
I’ve been wanting a reason to try resin and I thought this would be the perfect project. So I got some pointers from my friend Rachel (who has made glitter rings and magnets with resin) and gave it a try!

Anthropologie Inspired Gold Leaf and Resin Coasters
Supplies
Pourable resin
silicone coaster mold
gold leaf flakes
plastic cups
rubber gloves
mixing bowl
popsicle sticks
craft paint
paint brush
Directions
- Pour 2 oz. of resin into a small plastic cup (if you’re using 9 oz. cups, you can use the bottom line or ridge on the cup as a guide). Pour 2 oz. of resin hardener in a separate cup.
- Pour the hardener into the cup of resin and stir with a popsicle stick for 2 minutes. Then carefully stir in the gold leaf flakes. The more gold leaf you add the more golden your coaster will look.
- Fill a small mixing bowl with warm water and place the cup with the resin mixture in it. Let it sit in the warm water for 5 minutes. This will help push large air bubbles to the surface.
- Remove the resin cup from the bowl of water and wipe away any water on the outside of the cup. Lay the silicone mold on a flat surface (that’s covered with paper in case of spills) and pour the mixed resin directly into the mold.
- Allow it to dry for 24 hours before removing it from the mold. If you want to make more than 1, repeat steps 1-5 now so they all are ready to paint at the same time.
- To add color to the coaster, simply paint the back of the coaster using craft paint. Allow it to dry completely then it’s ready to be used!
Though I didn’t in the video, I highly recommend wearing rubber gloves when working with resin.

SO cool, Sarah!! They look just like the store bought version! Love.
Thanks Carrie!
Oh I love love love these! Yeah, I usually love Anthropology too but not so much the prices. I’m going to have to give these a try!
I saw these coasters too whilst scrolling through Anthro, and was clearly drooling over them. Your hack came out as beautiful as the original!
What was the final cost per coaster?
Around $5/coaster. If you plan to make more resin projects in the future, I’d suggest buying a larger amount of resin as the cost/unit decreases a lot when you do.
This is gorgeous and such an amazing idea! I do a lot of Anthro hacks myself for my blog ;) In fact Im doing a post on the best Athro DIYS around- may I feature this using 1 photo and linking to this page? Thanks!
I’m in need of coasters and these are gorgeous! Do I need to buy resin hardener or does it come with the resin? If it doesn’t then can I let the resin harden without the hardener? Thanks!
Hi Helen! The resin kit I used (linked above) comes with a hardener and was very easy to use.
Did you use more than one gold leaf packet (referring to the link above)?
No, just one!
One more question: did you buy the medium or small sized silicone mold?
The medium one!
