It probably comes as no surprises that when I found a wooden crate in my closet that I purchased months ago, the first thing that came to mind was to cover it with chalkboard paint. So after covering it with a few coats of paint, I decided that this little crate that I bought at Jo-Ann’s for $4 with come in handy. Here are 3 ways that you can use a chalkboard crate.
My first thought was to use it as a utensil and napkin holder when we have friends over for dinner. I love to use cloth napkins (I may have a bit of an obsession, I just ordered these cuties today) and wooden utensils so why not put them on display. This will also come in handy when we have potlucks and serve things buffet style.
I also thought the crate would make a great planter. I’m picturing this used as a centerpiece on our rectangular dining room table or sitting on top of our foyer shoe cabinet.
Since mail tends to piece up in our house, I thought it would be make a cute, function home “mailbox.” You could place this on a foyer table or even mount this it on the wall.
How would you use a chalkboard painted crate?
