You probably already know I that love cloth napkins. I love that they are reusable, machine washable and they dress up your table. Win, win, right? So when I stumbled upon the sun stripe napkins at Anthropologie I was in love. They have such a simple linear pattern that will easily go from summer to fall. At $12 each, I just couldn’t justify the price tag. So I stopped at TJ Maxx and picked up a set of four cotton, linen looking napkins for $5. I used some Martha Stewart craft paint and a 1/4″ angled paint brush and painted the simple pattern.
Instant Anthro style for only $5! Now that’s definitely a win!
Saw these on your IG feed. Awesome job! :)
LOVE! I really need to get (or rather, MAKE) some cloth napkins–we usually just pilfer Dunkin Donuts when we get coffee, haha. Time to get classier. Very nicely done!
Ooh love this idea and love your blog!
These are so cute! Do they launder well? I’ve been wanting to do this with a stencil, but was afraid the craft paint would come out in the wash. They’re wonderful!
Love these Sarah! Great colours aren’t they :)
Wow, so simple but such great results! I’m including it in a Mother’s Day gifts kids can make round-up on my site, The Crafty Crow :)
How do these hold up to washing? Does the acrylic paint wash out? Really like the idea. Started painting some for myself and have been asked, “How are you going to keep the paint from washing out?”
Hi Chris! I found that when I use the Martha Stewart craft paint it holds up really well! I always put them in the dryer, on high, for a cycle once the paint is dry. This sets the paint and makes them washable.
