This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro. All opinions are 100% mine.
Spring is here and just about everything is blooming in Los Angeles. From bright pink bougainvillea to yellow succulents and orange poppies. Thanks to the great SoCal climate we can plant things year-round but it’s spring time, when the weather starts to warm up and the days get longer, that makes me want to refresh the greenery both inside and outside our home. This spring, I’m focusing on the outside. I’m updating the front porch of our little rental bungalow with a few rental-friendly fixes and Miracle-Gro.
Did you know you can buy planting soil online?
Yep, it’s true! I’m a little too embarrassed to admit how many times I order from Amazon Prime each week but let’s just say, I’m on a first name basis with the mailman. If you’re an Amazon fan too, you can now add Expand ‘n Gro planting mix to your cart and skip a trip to the hardware store. Expand ‘n Gro is a new concentrated planting mix that’s only available on Amazon that arrives in a super light box. This small bag of premium soil packs a big punch—it expands up to 3x in volume when water is added. And the smaller bag also means it’s easier to store and move around the yard.
For our front porch refresh, I’ll be adding three new containers/planters. I plan on using hearty drought-tolerant plants like succulents since we get so little rain here. But the Expand ‘n Gro can be used to also plant flowers, veggies, and herbs in containers, raised beds, and in the ground. If you plan on using it with a container, just make sure there is proper drainage before you fill it up with the planting mix.
The Expand ‘n Gro holds 50% more water than ordinary potting soil which is a good because let’s be honest, sometimes we all forget to water our plants. It also has nutrients in the soil to feed plants for up to 6 months. So your new plant babies get a healthy start.
What part of your home would you makeover with plants? Check back next week to see how I use the supplies shown above to refresh our front porch!
