While I was in college I had the amazing opportunity of interning with Alena Hennessy. If you’re not familiar with her work you should absolutely go check it out! She’s a talented artist, educator and over-all just a wonderful, inspirational person.
My internship allowed me to peak inside Alena’s life and learn about the business side of being a professional artist and designer. This was something that was never discussed in college and that I later found oh-so-helpful as I later launched my line of handmade apparel and accessories my senior year. I also become a pro at steaming scarves and matting art prints, you know, more “traditional” intern type stuff.
Alena now offers online courses in addition to selling archival paper prints, hand painted jewelry, and apparel. If you’ve ever had an interest in exploring your creativity or would just love to start a new hobby, she offers a called, “A Year of Painting.” Just like the name suggests, this course takes you through one year of painting by learning a new technique or completing a project every three weeks. The course is self-paced and allows you to connect with all the other students from around the world.
Alena is offering a special deal just for my readers! If you sign-up for the “A Year in Painting” course you will also receive a mentorship session with Alena and a signed copy of her book, “Cultivating Your Creative Life.” This is such a great opportunity for artists wanting to develop their career or anyone interested in deepening their creativity!
