Next stop? Blue Bird Bake Shop! There are quite a few cupcake shops around Orlando but my favorite has got to be Blue Bird. I first sampled their cupcakes at Pom Pom’s, long before they had their adorable store front, and I was a fan at first bite.
Since I like to think of myself a connoisseur of sweets (I’m not gonna lie, I do make a pretty awesome red velvet cake) I’m pretty picky about cream cheese frosting and buttercream too. I think Blue Bird has nailed it with theirs. Their red velvet cupcakes are one of my favorites! Their tuxedo cupcake is also winner, it’s a chocolate cupcake topped with cream cheese icing and mini chocolate chips.
The shop is located in the Audubon Park neighborhood and just one traffic light down from P is for Pie. If you stop by this neighborhood, be sure to come hungry, or at least with a sweet tooth!
In addition to cupcakes, they also bake up delicious scones, muffins, brownies and cookies. Here’s the cranberry orange scone (on top) and the mocha chocolate chip scone. I tried the Neapolitan cupcake for the first time and it’s now one of my favorites. It’s layered chocolate, strawberry and vanilla cake topped with strawberry buttercream.
Every time I walk into Blue Bird I think I like their decor more than their cupcakes, well, almost. The shop is filled with the perfect mix of textures—hexagon tile, damask wallpaper, marble countertops, and wood board counter. It’s definitely well designed right down to the little details like the moveable display unit that houses merchandise for sale.
They also have a small selection of vintage candy (the guava gum is my fave) local Wondermade marshmallows, and some cute party supplies from Meri Meri.

Next time you’re craving cake, stop by Blue Bird and treat yourself to something sweet! And if you’re not local, be sure to add this to your itinerary next time you’re in town. Even if you’re staying out near the parks, it’s worth the drive up I-4 to see what else Orlando has to offer.

Blue Bird is my favorite too :)
Tuxedo is my favorite! I also love the butterscotch brownies. I think it’s time for a trip to Blue Bird!
I love Tuxedo too! I haven’t tried the butterscotch brownies though. Looks like I need to make another trip soon too!
I have never been to Blue Bird! It is on my to-do list now. . . . looks delicious!
