While I was in Miami visiting my family two weekends ago, my mom and I made dipped apples. We had lots of trouble getting both the caramel and the chocolate the right consistency. Before I knew it the weekend was gone and we were unable to finish up our apple “experiment.” When I got back to Orlando, I decided to give it a try and I had great success! They are absolutely delicious! Here’s what I used:
• 10 Gala apples
• 2 bags of caramel candies, melted down, with 2 tablespoons of water, in the microwave until bubbly
• 1 bag of semi sweet chocolate chips, melted down in the microwave, with about 1/4 c. of heavy whipping cream
• Sprinkles for the finishing touch!
Start with the caramel and let the apples refrigerate until hard, about 30 minutes. Make sure you place them on an oiled piece of parchment paper or you will have a sticky mess. Then dip them in the chocolate and immediately in the sprinkles. Just place them in the fridge until you are ready to eat them. They will need to thaw for about an hour before you can eat them. Enjoy!
