I’ve always been a big fan of hats and this oversized hat was the perfect accessory for beating the crazy Palm Springs heat last week. Before heading to the desert, I gave my big white floppy hat a little update. And when you gotta DIY in a pinch, my go-to pattern is to add scallop edges to all the things (see proof here, here, here, and here).
This hat makeover takes less than 10 minutes to complete and would be equally as cute on a natural straw colored hat! Check out my video below to see just how easy it is to make.
DIY Gold Scalloped Floppy Hat
Time: 10 minutes
Supplies
White floppy hat
Gold craft paint
Foam Pouncer
Tray for paint
Directions
- Place the hat right side up on a covered work surface. Add some gold paint to a paint tray. Drip the foam pouncer (I used the second largest size) in the paint and press it up and down on the tray a couple times to remove the excess paint.
- Stamp the foam pouncer along the brim of the hat, slightly rotating it as you press down. Once you’ve stamped all the way around, use a small paint brush to touch up any areas where the hat color shows through. Allow it to dry completely and you’re ready for a day of fun in the sun!
What’s your favorite pool side accessory? Mine is definitely this hat!
