Today is the second week in my (mini) house tour series. Each week I’ll be sharing photos of one room in our house! Last week I shared details about our den and today I’m showing you our living room. Our living room is definitely one of the most lived in spaces in our home. It’s the first room you walk into when you step into our home and you have to walk through it to get to the rest of the house.
The art that’s hanging above the couch was part of my BFA graduation art show at FSU (this was also my very first blog post!). You can see what it looked like in the gallery here. Links and details about all the items are at the bottom of the post.
Our shallow foyer leads directly into the living room. Shortly after we moved in, Kevin and I mounted the tv on the wall. Adding the mounting hardware was pretty easy but running the cables in the walls wasn’t. After many trips to Home Depot, we finally found a solution and we’re really happy with the cable-free look although it wasn’t an easy task.
This cozy little nook also serves as a place for me to store my huge Pantone dinnerware collection from Fishs Eddy. We use the plates everyday, but I have service for 12 (including tea cups and saucers) and those were just taking up too much space in our tiny kitchen. This floral storage ottoman is great for stowing away the extra dinnerware and is a good place to sit while you’re putting on your shoes.
I have a big collection of cookbooks and since there really isn’t room to store them in the kitchen, I moved them to the side table closest to the dinning room/kitchen area.
The mint green leather sofa and love seat were our first big furniture purchase after we got married. They’re staring to show some age (and wear) but they are oh-so comfy now.
Wall color: Behr Ulta Ivory Lace in eggshell | Mint green sofa and loveseat: American Signature | Side tables: West Elm (unfortunately they are discontinued) | Coffee table: West Elm (this is also discontinued) | Chevron lamp shades and glass lamps: Target | Adventure print by me | Suburban monster print: Matte Stephens | Yellow storage bench: Wayfair | Geometric printed slipper chair: West Elm (this print is no longer available but they have some other great patterns and solids) | Curtains: Target | Entertainment console: Ikea (similar, we removed the back piece) | Bookcase: West Elm (similar) | Throw pillows by me | Silver bowl: Ikea | Rug: Dwell Studio for Target | Coasters: Modern Twist (we got these in San Francisco on our honeymoon and they are still my favorite)
Simple, cute and stylish. I like it. :)
I went to the bfa graduation art show! I remember that piece! :)
