Out and About Maxi Dress

See my version of Sew Caroline’s wearable maxi dress pattern, the out and about dress!

Out and About Dress Pattern Perfect for Beginners

After stocking up on some great fabric in Nashville last week I just couldn’t wait to start sewing. The first project on my list was to sew another out and about dress. I just loved the style so much I wanted to give it another try this time in a maxi length and with short sleeves. The pattern has an option for long or three-quarter sleeves but I opted to alter it slightly and make them shorter.  I just love the way it came out! I think this really is going to be my out and about dress this spring.

I also thought sewing a cute new dress would be the perfect way to share my new haircut! I’ve been missing short hair for awhile but finally decided it was time to go for it and got my locks chopped yesterday by Tally at Alchemy. I’m loving my new cut although I still keep doing a double take every time I look in the mirror! It’s been years since I’ve had short hair.

If you’re looking for a fun sewing project this week, I suggest Sew Caroline’s out and about dress. It looks great on any body type and can be customized just for your taste. Now my next sewing project on the list is to make a short sleeve top using the Liberty of London fabric I purchased.

  1. Love this! The dress is cute and your new haircut is so flattering on you. :)

I like Liberty of London fabrics a lot. You’ll have to share your finished top!
