Mother's Day Flower Shaped French Toast

  • Servings: Makes 8 pieces

A fun way to surprise a mom this Mother’s Day would be homemade floral French toast with each piece cut like a flower and topped with powdered sugar and fresh fruit. Serve it with a mimosa if you really want to make her morning!

Ingredients

  • 8 thick bread, sliced
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • powdered sugar, optional
  • flower shaped cookie cutter

Directions

  • 1)

    Use a flower shaped cookie cutter to press the shape from each piece of bread. Note, don’t discard the rest of the bread! You can save it to make homemade croutons!

  • 2)

    In a small bowl, whisk the eggs with a fork. Then mix in vanilla, milk and cinnamon.

  • 3)

    Heat a griddle or large skillet on low-medium heat with a bit of nonstick spray.

  • 4)

    Dip each flower-shaped piece of bread in the egg mixture to coat both sides and place on griddle for several minutes until golden. Flip and cook until golden.

  • 5)

    Serve warm, sprinkled with powdered sugar and syrup or with a side of fresh fruit.

Notes

Save leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Simply reheat by cooking each side in a skillet within 2 days.
