Mother’s Day Brunch Cocktail Grapefruit Ginger Mule
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and if you’re hosting a big brunch or just making a special meal for your favorite ladies you have to serve this delicious cocktail. Though mimosas (or mimosa popsicles) are my go-to brunch drink, I’m pretty sure this citrus mule is going to be my new favorite. It’s my version of a Moscow mule— with my favorite Natalie’s grapefruit juice and sweetened with homemade ginger syrup. It’s sweet, refreshing and has a slight kick. Everything you need in a brunch cocktail, right?
To make my cocktails every prettier, I dressed up some of my favorite glasses with some adhesive vinyl flowers. I cut them out using my Silhouette but you can always cut them by hand too. The adhesive vinyl is great because it adheres to the glass even when it’s sweating and they can be hand washed and reused. When you’re tired of the glassware the decals just peel right off!
Grapefruit Ginger Mules
2 ounces Natalie’s Grapefruit Juice
1 ounce vodka
1 tablespoon ginger simple syrup (see below)
1 ounce cane sugar ginger ale
large ice cubes
fresh grapefruit peel and wedges, for serving
Place one large ice cube in a glass. Pour Natalie’s Grapefruit Juice, vodka, ginger simple syrup over ice and stir. Top with ginger ale and serve with a fresh grapefruit wedge and peel in the glass.
Ginger simple syrup can be made by combing 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 water. Heat the mixture in a microwave safe bowl until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute. Meanwhile, peel and slide a 1” piece of fresh ginger. Place the ginger slices in the sugar mixture and allow it to steep for 15 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool and remove the ginger pieces before using it in this recipe. This makes enough syrup for 4 drinks.
