Decorate your Thanksgiving table with these unique, do-it-yourself clipboard placecards. The bottom portion is painted with chalkboard paint and is the perfect place forwriting each of your guest’s names. Use the clip to hold down the printable “I am thankful for” card and encourage your guests to write down the things that they are most thankful for. This is a great conversation starter as the holiday meal begins. And the bestpart is that they can be reused for other holidays, parties, and showers. Simply wipe off the chalk with a damp towel and they are ready to be used again.

Use mini clipboards to create I am Thankful place cards for Thanksgiving dinner.

Supplies:

ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape for Delicate Surfaces with Advanced Edge-Lock™ Paint
Line Protector (2080EL)
– 5” x 7” clipboards
– chalkboard paint, any color you like
– foam brush
– chalk or chalkboard
– mini pencils, one for each place setting
– “I am thankful for” cards, printed and cut out
– paper towel

Step 1: Gather your materials (see the supply list above).

ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape for Delicate Surfaces is perfect for painting chalkboard paint onto these mini clipboards.

Step 2: Use the ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape to mask-off the bottom of the clipboard. Position the bottom edge of the tape about 1.5” from the bottom edge of the mini clipboard.

Chalkboard paint transforms a mini clipboard into the perfect Thanksgiving dinner place card.

Step 3: Use the foam brush to paint a coat of chalkboard paint on the bottom of theclipboard. Allow it to dry completely and add a second coat. If you are using a patterned clipboard, you may need to add a third or even fourth coat of chalkboard paint. Onceyour final coat has dried for about 15 minutes, carefully remove the tape.

Paint the end of a mini clipboard with chalkboard paint to create a unique place card for your Thanksgiving table.

Step 4 : Once the chalkboard paint looks opaque and is completely dry (this may take upto 24 hours) you need to condition the surface by rubbing a piece of chalk all over thepainted surface. This makes the chalk easier to remove after you’ve written on it andallows you to reuse the board for other occasions.

These mini clipboards are so cute! Love the idea of using painting them with chalkboard paint and using them as place cards.

Step 5: Lightly wipe the chalk covered surface with a paper towel to remove excess dust.

These I am thankful cards double as Thanksgiving dinner place cards when clipped to a chalkboard painted mini clipboard.

Step 6: Write the name of each guest on the chalkboard painted area and clip a printed “Iam thankful for” card to the top of the clipboard. Slide in a mini pencil at the top and yourDIY place card is now ready to go on your Thanksgiving table!
