DIY Ombré Quote Wall Art

diy ombre quote wall art 3

One wall in our guest bathroom has been blank since we moved in (a little over 2 years ago)! It’s kinda crazy, because once we bought the house and moved in I quickly hung up art on every wall… except that one.

This week I’ve been cleaning out my office little by little and stumbled upon a scrap piece of wood. It happens to fill the empty wall in the guest bathroom perfectly. I used the scrap wood and came up with a super simple DIY ombré wall art.

I laid out the type in Illustrator, then used my Silhouette Cameo and some adhesive vinyl to make stickers. If you don’t have a cutting machine, you can always use contact paper and an x-acto knife or use pre-cut adhesive letters (which can be found at most hardware stores).

Then I found some acrylic paint in my bin of random paint left from college and various crafts. I used a deep magenta and white.

Then I just applied the paint, starting with the white and gradually mixed in the magenta paint. I constantly wet the paint brush to help blend the colors together. This always makes the paint more like a wash and allows the wood grain to show though. Then when it’s all dry, remove the vinyl letters and you’re done. See, I told you it was easy!

In about 15 minutes I had new wall art for our bathroom and it coordinates nicely with these little guys.

I love this idea we pay so much for word art in the stores- I used canvas which I painted in my favorite color applied stickers spay painted over it and it turned out better than I expected – i let the paint drip so it added another dimension to the art –
